Associate Professor

Department of Earth Science
University of California, Santa Barbara

Welcome! I am an Earth Science faculty member at the University of California, Santa Barbara. My research addresses fundamental questions about tectonic processes using geophysical tools, mostly seismology. I research both continental and oceanic plates, with a focus on deep mantle lithospheric structure, and the lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary region. My research involves both method development – improving our techniques for extracting information from data – and fieldwork, including planning and executing research cruises to collect ocean-bottom seismic data from never-before-studied parts of the oceans. My primary areas of expertise are seismic tomography, inverse methods, anisotropy, and attenuation. I try to find ways to combine a wide range of data types to harness their distinct but complementary constraints on Earth structure. Browse through the tabs above to find out more about my work.
